The challenge

Nine portraits of the greatest of all time, painted across the walls of a custom home court and the golf room beside it. Every figure is rendered in grayscale on charcoal with a single blue accent running behind it, so nine separate subjects read as one room rather than nine posters. The work was done inside a house still being finished, around masked floors, padding and glazing.

The brief was the name: GOATS. Nine of them, chosen by the owner, painted across a custom home court and the golf room next to it.

The constraint that shapes the whole job is that nine portraits in one room can very easily look like nine posters. They are held together instead by a single treatment: every figure grayscale, every wall charcoal, and one blue sweep carried behind each subject so the eye travels along the room rather than stopping at each face. Freehand aerosol throughout, no stencils, the same as every other wall on this site.

It was painted in March 2026, in a house that was still a building site: floors papered, padding and glazing masked, scaffolding moved along the wall as the work went.
